Horse Necessities
FAQs
Compounding is the preparation of medication to fit the unique needs of a patient. Just as humans would go to a retail pharmacy to have a specific medication prepared for them, equine veterinarians contact Horse Necessities for those same needs.
Horse Necessities employs 2 local licensed pharmacists and 8 licensed pharmacy technicians trained specifically in the art of compounding and veterinary pharmacy. We fulfill all the same educational requirements that human retail pharmacies require and have specialized education beyond those requirements.
Horse Necessities is a small, independently owned pharmacy. Therefore, we know your voice on the telephone, can answer most equine pharmacy related questions, and have an equine veterinarian on staff.
Most orders for equine compounds ship out the same day from our SC office. We utilize UPS, FEDEX, and USPS to get your medication to you as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, since compounding creates a custom medication for your specific patient, we cannot accept returns. We will do our best to make it right because we value you as a customer.
